The Riverside and Mercedes-Benz Cultural Center (formerly known as the Expo Performing ArtsCenter) with its shuttle appearance in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Park, the core area, adjacent to the Expo axis and the China Pavilion. The whole building uses a smart lighting technology, a UFO-like unique style turns out to be an"art seashell." The main body of the 18,000 multi-functional performing space is not only able to hold both large-scale celebrations or concerts, but also to basketball games, ice show, and even ice hockey games and other sporting activities.

The project is designed according to the 3Rs, that is, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Using a photovoltaic curtain wall system, river water source cooling system, pneumatic refuse Collection system, air conditioning condensation and roof rainwater collection system,program-controlled green sectionWaterirrigation system, and so many other energy conserving tools and mechanism, the performing arts center is truly a "green ecological building." Its air conditioning system uses river water source hot springs, ice Storage and traditional hot water to conserve energy. It also uses six Accessen AC& AU series heat exchangers for ice storage systems, river Water source heat pump systems and air conditioning hot water systems.

River water source heat pump system is the use of river water source heat pump system. How it works is that during the summer, the building heat will be transferred to the river water source as the water temperature is lower. During the winter, using river water source to extract energy, by using the heat pump. As the water source heat pump operating costs are low, the investment recovery period is short, hence the average cost of the service cycle will be lower than the traditional air conditioning system. Groundwater, rivers, and lakes can be used as a cold and heat source.
