In the technical design planning, Huawei Yuxi E-cloud computing data center will take advantage of the free cooling system application due to the unique climate conditions in Yunnan (low outdoor temperature in spring, autumn, winter seasons). Under the condition of mechanical refrigeration units closed, cool the data center machine room through the plate heat exchanger and cooling tower to make a cold source, thereby reduces the energy consumption of the data center. The free cooling source system is composed of a cooling tower, plate heat exchanger, chiller, circulating pump, air conditioning terminal, etc. The plate heat exchanger and related switch valve group are installed based on the original cooling water system. In high-temperature weather, chillers are used for mechanical refrigeration. In low-temperature season, low-temperature cooling water generated by the cooling tower is heat exchanged with high-temperature chilled water. In transition season, low-temperature cooling water and high-temperature chilled water are pre-cooled before entering the chillers. So we can reduce the load and running time of chiller, also reduced the energy consumption. Although waterside in a natural cooling system is relatively complex, it has become the most recognized air conditioning system scheme in China's current data center project design with the increasingly mature process and remarkable effect in data center application. As indispensable equipment in the free cooling system, the plate heat exchanger plays an intermediary role in energy exchange in the whole system.
